Pause

A few weeks ago, a head hunter called hubby about a regional CFO job at a national supermarket chain. It was based out of Boston, a place where Jake was born, where we lived for 2 years, and continue to have close ties. Hubby in the meantime negotiated and accepted this offer in Bethesda, and will be living at big sis', just 4 miles away from the office.

Well, today, hubby received a phone call from another head hunter over a finance job for a national pizza company. Based out of ANN ARBOR! And the shocking thing is, the pay is basically the same as what hubby had been earning in Ny. That kind of money goes far in the Midwest.

It's weird, that the 3 opportunities that were brought to hubby's attention were precisely in cities where my sisters live and where we once lived. Nothing in NY. What is the universe telling us? Get out? But we can't move, the kids don't want to move, we don't want to move the kids and they are both doing well after years of figuring it out.... Belac will graduate HS in 5 years, and then we will have greater flexibility.

All things being equal, where would you go? Hubby thought about it, probably DC. For me, it was different. I'd choose Ann Arbor. The thought that there was something compelling to try in Ann Arbor gives me pause. We'd be closer to little sis and her kids (and my parents).... There are great schools. Jake will be at U of M for 3 weeks this summer for a computer science camp. What if he loves it? Really? We can't move the kids?
