Hubby just called to let me know what they're buying. I had sent him and Belac a list of recommended computers for coding and programming as they were off, looking at options. We had decided that it's time for Belac to have his own laptop to take with him. No more waiting for someone to be off the family computer to edit his movies or continue with his progress with Kahn Academy or being away and feeling antsy to work on any of his projects. For the past week, he kept thumbing excitedly through a book we gave him of programming projects, causing him to be even more restless to be at home and near the computer.
He films, animates, animates illustrations, and is now making basic games with python and was exposed to Java in his last class. It's all he ever talks about in depth and quite clearly a passion. He wants to attend all of the programs Jake did, this summer, at McGill and U of M, and when he heard there was a computer science program at Oberlin during our visit and a very advanced game making class offered yearly....
Of course we bought him his own computer; I am certain he will put it to fantastic, productive use. Arrives in 1 week.
