Aftermath

We have had kids and kids and their parents here all week end. Huddled together around the fire with food and drink. And that's just what you do when you are scared and horrified by the senseless, destructive  acts outside.

My cousin was one of the parents who sped to Sandy Hook elementary on Friday.  I bet seeing his son was one of the happiest days of his life. But they are devastated. The principal was someone they considered a friend. They lost friends and kids in their neighborhood, and unbeknownst to them, the killer and his mom lived just a block away.

It is important to me that neither of my children ever be socially isolated. It's important that they feel loved and understood. It is so important that we talk about what we do during times of pain, anger and depression.... And never ever ever will there ever be a gun in this house so long as I am alive. Never.
