All in a day

Just checked into my hotel outside of Boston. So relieved there is free wifi in the room. It sure would be nice to have a glass of wine though.... Got up early to practice while hubby went off to run. He ran into a cow that busted through a fence at stone barns! Drove to Boston for 7 hours of rehearsal. More rehearsals tomorrow, concert, and then drive home through... rain, supposedly. I should have said no to this. The program is piano heavy and hard and last minute to boot. None of which is exactly my idea of fun or easy listening for a Sunday afternoon. And more concerning is another concert in a few weeks with much harder music and more at stake, so this was really a distraction. I should have known better than to 'help out' but what can I do at this point but just do it and hope for the best. Just got off the phone with the kids. Belac had a long play date with Lily. Hubby made them lunch and they made a stop animation movie together. Hubby took them to playground where they skipped rocks. Jake played some tennis and also called a friend from school over. They ordered dinner in. Then walked downtown to meet Kati's family for ice cream. All of this with no help from me and that makes me happy. By the time I called, the kids were bathed and brushing their teeth. Hubby had had fun playing the piano and puttering around the house. The house will be a wreck in the 40 hours I'm gone but that everyone seems fine and content is all that matters. As much as I wish I were home, it's nice for all of us to know that they can manage just fine without me.
