actions matter

I agree. Words matter. But let's be crystal clear. Actions matter much, much more.

No one tried to identify or locate that 1o year-old boy or find out what really happened. Not even the adult who saw the child being raped. That 1o year old could have easily been my kid. That 1o year old could have been your kid. No one that should have or could have followed up during the 1o years that passed did so until those kids who had been violated grew up and found their own voices. How people protected Sandusky and their team makes me sick to my stomach. How they now feign ignorance! At least Paterno admitted in retrospect that he should have done more.

I don't care how low on the totem pole you are. I don't care how bad you are with words. We all have the ability, capacity, and duty to help each other. It's what makes us human beings. I've said it here before and it's something that is so important to me as I watch my boys learn to navigate the real world. I want my boys standing up for what is right and wrong. That they think for themselves and are unafraid, both in advocating for themselves and their positions, and in helping others. I'm sorry, but the meek do not inherit the earth. Actions matter.
